Safe Environment Training

Safe Environment Training Volunteers who have routine contact with children or vulnerable adults are reminded that attendance of Safe Environment Training is required. You may register online at www.dioceseofvenice.org. Here is the fall schedule of upcoming training sessions in our area. No one should attend Safe Environment Training until their fingerprints have cleared. Continued volunteer status requires that you attend one of these sessions.

Weekly Bingo & CFA Dinner

On February 3, 2011 Bingo begins at 6:30pm, Dinner begins at 5pm. All proceeds to benefit the 2010 CFA! Bring some friends and enjoy the evening. Bingo will be held EVERY FRIDAY NIGHT IN DECEMBER! Early Bird Bingo begins at 6:30 p.m. Volunteers are welcomed and needed for CFA dinner and weekly bingo, please call Jean at 997-1138.

Weekly Men's Gospel Forum

Gentlemen, Please join us for Gospel Forum every Wednesday morning, 7a.m. - 8a.m. at the Parish Hall. We will discuss the upcoming weekly readings and how they affect our lives as Husbands, Fathers, Brothers, workers and friends. This event is free and coffee is provided. Come as you are for fellowship and lively discussion.

Weekly Donuts & Coffee

Join us after the 9:30am Mass every Sunday for Coffee, Donuts, and Fellowship. All are welcome. To volunteer please call Lloyd at 223-9618.

St. Francis Xavier Prayer Line

For those who request prayers for special intentions, physical, personal and/or family concerns, please call Ann at 995-3283 or Ruth at 939-4287 only between 10a.m. and 2 p.m., Monday thru Friday.

Altar Flowers

If you would like to make a donation to cover the financial cost of altar flowers in memory or in honor of someone, please see the bulletin for more information.

Bereavement Ministry

Interested in supporting families in their time of grief due to loss of a loved one, in the next few weeks we will explore more ways for our bereavement ministry to be involved, particularly at all funerals. Please call Linda at 334-2161 for more information.

Usher In The Holidays

Are you a friendly person? Do you enjoy helping others? Then we would love your participation as an usher during Mass. Please see the bulletin for volunteering information.

Help With Prayer Blankets

Volunteers and donations are need to start up a “Prayer Blanket Ministry”. Sewing, knitting, or crocheting skills are needed. These blankets will be given to those in need for various situations. Please see the bulletin for volunteering information.

The next Holy Hour: February

Please join us for the next Monday Holy Hour at St. Francis Xavier, Monday, Feb. 6th. It will be the first Monday of each month (unless there is a Monday Holiday). Holy Hour will start at 6:30 p.m. in the church. Please be sure to join us and participate in Benediction & Adoration. There is still Adoration & Benediction every Friday morning after the 6:45 Mass.

Bringing Home Lost Sheep

Saddened by family members (children/grandchildren) leaving the faith? Wish you knew better how to respond? Unsure how to explain the Church’s teachings to them in a way they will find attractive? Learn to explain and defend your Catholic Faith at the Diocese of Venice Apologetics Conference on Tuesday, February 7th, from 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Retreat Center in Venice. Sacramental Prep Class

Sacramental Prep Class for those students currently enrolled who will be receiving their First Holy Communion and Confirmation this year is next Sunday, Feb. 11th. We will attend the 9:30 Mass with class to follow.

Anniversary Mass

Bishop Frank Dewane will celebrate two Masses for married couples celebrating milestone anniversaries (25, 30, 35, 40, 45, 50, and 50+ years). The Masses will be celebrated on Saturday, February 11, at Epiphany Cathedral in Venice at 11:00 a.m. and on Saturday, March 3rd at St. John the Evangelist Parish in Naples at 11:00 a.m. Reception following the Mass at both locations Parish Centers.

13th Annual Catholic Charities Venetian Ball

The 12th Annual Catholic Charities Venetian Ball is March 3rd, 2012 with the theme: Venetian Cafés. Why is the ball important? Catholic Charities in our area serves literally thousands of adults and children every year. With these distressing economic times, the need is dire. Catholic Charities is deluged with requests for help everyday there are many sad days when needy people have to be turned away because the resources are just not there. The Venetian Charity Ball is the main resource that Catholic Charities depends on. Join us with special guests Bishop Frank J. Dewane, Lois Thome of WINK News and other Ft. Myers personalities. The 4th Annual Diocese of Venice Men’s Conference will be held from 9:00 a.m - 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 25, at Bishop Verot High School.

To Trust Again

Marriage Preparation program designed to assist couples who have experienced a previous marriage will be held at Our Lady Queen of Martyrs Parish in Sarasota from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 25. Please see the bulletin for more information.
